GEICO Honda's Wil Hahn stole the holeshot and never looked back en route to his first-career Eastern Regional 250SX Class win on Saturday night in Atlanta.

Hahn's triumph came in most impressive fashion as he didn't have an easy path of victory. Points leader Dean Wilson opened the 15-lap race with an excellent launch of his own and put his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki right in Hahn's wheel tracks during the race's opening stages.

While title favorite Wilson may have been expected to go to work and ultimately overhaul his rival, Hahn simply outclassed him on this night; he opened up a multi-second lead a handful of laps into the Main Event and deftly managed the advantage from there, holding on to the checkered flag despite a late push from the vastly experienced Wilson.

An elated Hahn said, "After the heat race, I knew I had what it took to do it tonight. It was just a matter of calming the nerves; I had the speed and felt good out there. I kept seeing that lap counter -- 'six more laps, five more laps… come on, you've got this.' I tried to keep positive thoughts in my mind and keep breathing and stay calm. This is to repay everyone in my corner."

"I'm not really satisfied with second," Wilson admitted. "I wanted to win it. At the beginning I felt I had energy and could pass him, but Wil rode awesome and made no mistakes."

Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin found himself in fifth off the start but diced past youngster Justin Hill on the second Pro Circuit bike and veteran Blake Wharton on the Rockstar Energy Suzuki to slot into third. The Frenchman did his best to track down Wilson in second but ran out of the time. Still, the podium finish was a welcome result following a rough opener for the title hopeful last weekend in Texas.

He said, "The track was really good today. I really enjoyed it. It was really technical and the dirt was good. I had a good day. I was fastest in practice. Tonight… I wish I could have done better. It was okay but I'll try to come back stronger next weekend."
