PROGRAMMING NOTE: The AMA Pro Road Racing action from Laguna Seca can be seen Sunday, July 5 at 9:00pm PT (late Sunday/early Monday, July 6 at Midnight ET).

2008 AMA Supersport champion Ben Bostrom is now two for two in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike competition, backing up his season-opening Daytona 200 victory with a tight win over Factory Aprilia Millennium Technologies' Chaz Davies in Sunday's once-stopped race at Laguna Seca.

The Yamaha USA star overtook Davies with just over two laps remaining while third race contender Jake Zemke had his Erion Honda CBR600RR expire on him moments later after closing to within striking distance behind the battling Welshman and Californian.

Bostrom
resisted Davies' attempt to counterattack in hopes of claiming his first career AMA checkered flag (his '07 Daytona 200 win coming after being elevated up from the runner-up position) and picked up the victory by 0.225 seconds. The second-place finish was Davies' first podium result of the season.

Graves Motorsports Yamaha's Josh Herrin was shuffled back into the pack when the charging Davies took him on the outside a handful of laps earlier, but he managed to regroup and take the final spot on the box, just ahead of his teammate, Tommy Aquino.

Meanwhile, fourth Yamaha pilot Josh Hayes crashed out of the contest, nearly collecting Herrin, who also suffered from a run-in with Zemke.
