PROGRAMMING NOTE: The AMA Pro Road Racing action from Laguna Seca can be seen Sunday, July 5 at 9:00pm PT (late Sunday/early Monday, July 6 at Midnight ET).

While Martin Cardenas has been running roughshod over the competition in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike action as of late, the Team M4 Suzuki ace typically saves his heroics for the races. However, on Saturday at Laguna Seca he dominated qualifying for Sunday's 50-mile race to earn the first pole position of his career (AMA or otherwise).

The Colombian, who has won six of the last eight SportBike races, posted a 1:27.586
to sit nearly a half-second out in front of the rest of the field, while the next 14 riders were packed with a single second of one another.

Joining Cardenas on the front row top open the rolling start will be Daytona 200 winner Ben Bostrom, the Yamaha USA star making his first appearance in the class since guiding the #1s YZF-R6 to victory in the season opener.

His Superbike teammate, Josh Hayes, made a similarly strong return to the class, qualifying third, with Graves Yamaha's Josh Herrin giving the tuning fork company a 2-3-4 in today's timed session.
