PROGRAMMING NOTE: The AMA Pro Road Racing action from Laguna Seca can be seen Sunday, July 5 at 9:00pm PT (late Sunday/early Monday, July 6 at Midnight ET).

Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki's Roger Hayden led the way in Friday's AMA Pro Daytona SportBike session at Laguna Seca, standing as the only man to break into the '28s in a very tight practice that saw the top 13 riders separated by less than a second.

Taking to the track immediately following the Valentino Rossi-led MotoGP practice, Hayden barged ahead of SportBike title leader Martin Cardenas on the Team M4 Suzuki GSX-R600 with about ten minutes to go and held the stop throughout the remainder of the session.

Cardenas was shuffled back to third momentarily by Erion Honda's Jake Zemke, but responded to jump back up to second, trailing Hayden by just fractions of a second (1:28.932 vs. 1:29.037).

Zemke headed the provisional second row, joined alongside by Cardenas' teammate, qualifying
ace Jason DiSalvo.

Daytona 200 victor Ben Bostrom was next quick in his return to SportBike action, as the Yamaha USA aces will be performing double duty this weekend for the first time since the season opener. He was followed by impressive privateer Bobby Fong, who outpaced Supersport race winners Josh Herrin, Jamie Hacking, and Josh Hayes.

One-time Daytona 200 race winner Steve Rapp rounded out the top ten, with '09 race winners Danny Eslick and Chris Peris ranked just eleventh and twelfth, respectively, but still right in the mix time-wise.
