AMA DSB: P1And Done
Despite their remarkable Daytona 200 victory, P1A has closed up shop and Joey Pascarella is in search of a ride.

The Joey Pascarella/P1A pairing that won the 71st Daytona 200 won’t race at Road Atlanta, or anywhere else.

It was one of the biggest Daytona 200 surprises ever, but it won’t continue.

The P1A/Pascarella deal initially came together as a one-off, with Pascarella’s sponsors and those found by the team coming together to back the effort for Daytona. It had been hoped that the grouping would find the funding to race in Georgia and beyond, but the line in the sand has been passed to move forward and the team has folded up shop.

Pascarella, who won the Daytona 200 at 19 years old, is looking for a ride. It’s not every day that the series points leader is looking for a gig.

Just a suggestion -- Graves Yamaha’s Cameron Beaubier will miss Road Atlanta with his broken bones. Why not see what Joey can do on that bike?

P1A honcho Perry Melneciuc is headed to Wisconsin to the Erik Buell Racing Superbike team. Melneciuc previously worked on Superbikes with the factory Kawasaki and Ducati Austin teams.

Perry will take former American Honda mechanic Rick Broyles and Ed Sullivan, both part of the P1A team, with him to Buell to work with Danny Eslick's side of the team. Eslick, a two-time DSB champ, had an inauspicious Daytona Superbike debut, DNFing the first race and taking ninth in the second on the Team Hero-sponsored bike.

There's a lot of potential there, both with Eslick and the machine.

As for Pascarella and P1A, they may not have a future, but they will always have Daytona.
