Red Bull Budds Creek National
Budds Creek MX Park – Mechanicsville, Md. – June 16
The Budds Creek facility in Southern Maryland is one of the most diverse venues in the country, featuring a world class motocross track, dirt oval and drag strip all on the same property.
In 18 years, only nine riders have captured victories at Budds Creek in the 450 Class, while 13 different riders have won in the 250 Class over the last 22 years.
Over the last three seasons, Budds Creek has been dominated by foreign-born riders, taking four of the last six overall victories across the 450 and 250 Classes.
Despite finishing just one moto last weekend, James Stewart has won 28 of the last 33 motos he’s entered (84%), claiming the overall in 14 of his last 17 races (82%).
Comparatively, Ryan Dungey has won 29 of the 56 motos he’s entered in his 450 Class career (51%), claiming the overall in 16 of 28 races (57%).
Through his first 28 career 450 Class races, Ricky Carmichael captured 20 overall victories. Ryan Dungey has claimed 16 wins in his first 28 starts.
Carmichael also earned 1,225 career points through the first 28 races of his 450 Class career, while Dungey has amassed 1,243 over that same span.
Dungey’s 16 career wins in the 450 Class place him in a tie for sixth all time with Jeff Emig.
Dungey is the only rider in the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship to finish on the podium in every moto. His worst result was third in the first moto of the season.
With six career wins, Blake Baggett has more victories that any other active rider in the 250 Class.
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s three-race winless streak is it’s longest since Trey Canard won four in-a-row for Honda during the 2010 season.
Eli Tomac is earning his success, passing an average of 7.7 riders per moto. Wil Hahn leads all riders, passing 9.5 competitors a moto.
Tomac led just one lap at High Point – the last one of the day, to win the second moto and secure the overall victory.
