Title Leader Bostrom on Pole Again
Graves Motorsports Yamaha's Ben Bostrom increased his Pro Honda Oils Supersport championship advantage to 11 today at Mid-Ohio, collecting his fifth pole in eight tries this season.
The Californian held a small gap over his pursuers, registering a 1:27.063, with a tight grouping of five riders all posting times between 1:27.328 and 1:27.426.
Bostrom's biggest threat in the title hunt, Erion Honda's Jake Zemke, will start from second, with Attack Kawasaki's Steve Rapp and Zemke's teammate, Josh Hayes, completing the front row.
Team M4 EMGO Suzuki's Blake Young and Martin Cardenas narrowly missed out on the front row, and will instead head the second with Matsushima Performance Suzuki's Danny Eslick and Bostrom's teammate, Josh Herrin, rounding out the row.
"There was a lot of action and everyone was going
Bostrom's only previous win came here back in 1996 in the Harley-Davidson Supertwins contest.
"That Supertwins race is the toughest race I've ever won to date," Bostrom reminisced. " Believe it or not. I always say this track has not been kind to me because it cost us the Superbike championship in '99 but that race makes this track. It was pretty awesome. Hopefully we can have another one of those tomorrow."
