PROGRAMMING NOTE: This weekend's AMA Pro Road Racing season finale from NOLA Motorsports Park will air on SPEED on Sunday, October 7th at 2:00pm ET and 3:00pm ET and at Midnight ET.

Josh Hayes equaled Mat Mladin's single-season record collection of ten AMA Pro Superbike pole positions with yet another dominating qualifying outing this morning at NOLA Motorsports Park. The Graves Monster Energy Yamaha ace remained in control throughout the session, upping his provisional advantage of nearly a second to a margin of more than a second on the finally tally.

Hayes led the way at 1:39.229, compared to second-placed Ben Bostrom's 1:40.251, while third-ranked (and Homestead pole and race winner) Roger Hayden admitted that the three-time series king was in "a league of his own."

However, the big story heading into today's final is front tire wear. Michael Jordan Motorsport teammates Bostrom and Hayden, along with Team Hero EBR's Danny Eslick, who rounds out the front row, all nervously reported that the situation is rather dire. Tires are generally lasting for just 5-8 laps before dropping off considerably, and with 18 laps ahead, the race could be both dramatic and unpredictable.

Then again, it could prove to be yet another clinic courtesy of Hayes, who reported that he was quite comfortable and fleet on worn fronts, having spent much of Friday's session acclimating to the expected race situation.

If Hayes wins in front of the home crowd, it would be his 15th of the season and #32 for his career -- tying him with Miguel DuHamel for second all-time.
