AMA SBK: Hodgson Headed Home For 2010?

Even prior to the announcement that American Honda would be cutting their ties with the Corona Honda outfit and eliminating their factory presence from the 2010 AMA Pro American Superbike grid altogether, former World Superbike champion Neil Hodgson admitted that he was 50/50 on a return to the British Superbike Championship for next season.

Reached for comment following confirmation of Honda's plans, the British pilot certainly sounded as if his injury-spoiled '09 campaign would be his last in America.

"I really had so many good times living in America, but the racing just never went the way I hoped it would," Hodgson told SPEEDtv.com. "I don't know -- I never really completely jelled with any of the tracks.

"I've not been happy, certainly this season, with the AMA series. I don't
like the format and the long days. I feel sorry for the paying public and it's no wonder they can't get crowds. The events are so boring and instead of having lots of racing and lots of action, it's just all strung out. There are so many things DMG are doing that are just stupid and pushed me away. All I want to do is enjoy my racing.

"So I've recently been thinking really hard about going back to England to race. There's plenty of interest and plenty of good people in the BSB paddock. I went to Croft and looked around the event. You cannot believe how professional everything is in the BSB paddock. It's incredible. It's like ten times more professional than what it was in the AMA paddock, which is so sad because the AMA paddock has so many good riders and good teams but it's just run all wrong."
