Following months of speculation, it's finally been confirmed that former world champion Neil Hodgson is headed home to race in the British Superbike Championship in 2010.
Hodgson has signed with Rob McElnea's Motorpoint Yamaha squad as the two unite in hopes of re-discovering their former glory together after a few difficult seasons for both parties.
The Lancashire native last raced in the British domestic series in 2000 before moving onto stints in World Superbike, MotoGP, and AMA Superbike, claiming the title in dramatic fashion that season following an epic duel with Chris Walker, who raced for Motorpoint Yamaha in 2009.

Hodgson told SPEEDtv.com, "I haven't ridden a Yamaha since 1995 and I had a great experience that year. I’m quite excited about the prospect of riding that bike. Everyone saw what it did this year in the hands of Ben Spies, Josh Hayes, and Leon Camier. It looks like it's got some serious potential.
"I'm also really excited about signing for Rob Mac's team because I've known Rob for a lot of years and he's had a lot of success in racing, both as a rider and as a team manager. They've had a tough time the last few seasons but having spent many an hour talking with him, I know he's very motivated to put that right.
