Graves Yamaha Motorsports star Ben Bostrom's added yet another highlight to his dream Pro Honda Oils Supersport season on Friday at Laguna Seca.
The Californian, who came into his best track this weekend with four wins and three poles to his credit in just six attempts, picked up his fourth pole of the year in dramatic fashion on Friday.
After sitting atop the charts much of the session, Bostrom headed back into the pits with just a few minutes remaining after encountering difficulties with his primary R6 racer. At the tail-end of the session title rival Jake Zemke surpassed Bostrom's time to steal the top position.
However, Bostrom snuck out late on his backup bike and just squeezed in a fast lap before the session concluded to reclaim pole with a 1:26.230, edging the Erion Honda ace's 1:26.516.

Afterwards Bostrom said, "We were just out there circulating and checking out our race tire. We had a little bit of trouble with the 'A' bike so we jumped on the 'B' bike and had just a lap to go. Fortunately, we put in just enough of a lap to nip both Chaz and Jake at the line.
"It was interesting. We always try to keep it real, you know? I want to say that's one of the harder pulls I had to do, so it was good."
With Zemke missing from the press conference, Bostrom decided to fill in for him, saying with a wide Zemkesque grin, "Ben and Chaz were amazing; they were really great! Stuff like that…"
