Corona Honda's Jake Holden continued to upset the formerly established Superstock order in which Suzuki's dominating position in the class was all but unchallenged.

On Saturday afternoon at Infineon Raceway Holden backed up his Barber Motorsports Park pole and Auto Club Speedway victory with his second qualifying triumph of the 2008 season on his CBR1000RR.

Holden's 1:36.437 not only beat out a field stacked with numerous quick GSX-R mounted riders, it was also good enough to established a new circuit record, slicing under double AMA Superbike champ Ben Spies' '07 qualifying time of 1:36.583.

Holden will now turn his attention to delivering Honda with their second-ever win the Superstock class on Sunday. "Basically, qualifying went as perfectly as we could have planned it. That Honda bike is just unbelievable to ride around this track. It's a technical track so it suits me and my style and we showed ride off the bat we could do
it. We threw down some good times, put the qualifiers on and went a little quicker. I've got to thank Honda and Dunlop for supporting me. This machine is going well around the track."

Informed that his time would have been good enough for sixth on the Superbike grid, quicker than any of the Superbike-spec Hondas, Holden said, "That makes me feel good. This Superstock machine works so good. I wish we could run in the Superbike class but this is the class the Corona team is supporting me in and I think we're doing a real good job. Hopefully we can leave with another win."

Holden will be joined on the front row by Jordan Suzuki teammates Geoff May (1:37.137) and Aaron Yates (1:37.246) and Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki's Robertino Pietri (1:37.315).

The second row will feature Lee Acree, who is subbing for Ben Thompson at KWS Suzuki, Canadian Chris Peris, Madison Wisconsin's Blake Young, and the recently un-retired Jason Pridmore.
