DuHamel A/Bs Superbike and GP machine

Continuing with the weekend theme of comparing Superbike and Grand Prix times, Miguel DuHamel makes for an interesting case study. Drafted to substitute for the injured Toni Elias with Gresini Honda, the Canadian is pulling a rare double duty, competing in both classes this weekend.

DuHamel was not afforded the opportunity to test the 800cc RC212V the Gresini team fields, nor their Bridgestone tires, before the weekend got underway.

Meanwhile, DuHamel has been campaigning Honda's CBR1000R Superbike in various guises over the past four seasons,
the last three on the ever-evolving American Honda-developed version.

So what happens when you take a rider with mountains of testing and racing experience on his Superbike and Dunlop tires and then let him ride a completely unfamiliar MotoGP package on the same track in the same conditions?

Well, actually you end up with pretty similar lap times. On Friday DuHamel posted a 1:25.550 aboard the prototype racer while running a 1:26.056 on his Superbike. Miguel lowered his Superbike mark this morning to 1:25.795, and is currently taking laps in the Saturday morning MotoGP practice session.
