KYLE CLOBBERS COMPETITION — Kyle Busch, the acknowledged master of Bristol Motor Speedway, puts a hurting on the field to win Saturday’s Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chips 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

END IS NEAR — Jason White’s blown tire on Lap 263 brings out a yellow, just as leader Kyle Busch is trying to hold off Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson. Surprisingly, Harvick pits from second, putting the two Kyles out front.

KEZ KO’D — After a restart, Regan Smith tried to get under leader Brad Keselowski, but got loose and drifted up into him, with Keselowski’s No. 22 Penske Racing Ford immediately showing smoke on the left-front tire. Finally, the tire failed on Lap 193, handing the lead to Kevin Harvick ahead of Kyle Busch, Smith, Sam Hornish Jr. and Brian Vickers.

MORE HARD KNOCKS — A hard crash snares Hal Martin, Jeffrey Earnhardt and Austin Dillon around Lap 160. Martin came across the nose of Brad Teague and made contact, which sent Martin’s car spinning wildly into the inside wall. Martin was visibly miffed that Teague didn’t give him more room.

CRUNCH TIME — Jamie Dick spins on the frontstretch on Lap 105 — perhaps with an assist from Brian Vickers — and then gets absolutely clobbered halfway through Turn 1 by Nelson Piquet Jr.

KYLE ROLLING – Kyle Busch wrapped up a perfect practice day at Bristol Saturday afternoon by leading the final session for Sunday's Food City 500 with a speed of 124.824. Busch, the pole winner, also led the morning practice. Also in the top five in the afternoon were Kasey Kahne, David Gilliland, Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin. Next on the program – the Grit Chips 300 Nationwide race. Start time for the 300-lapper has been moved from 2:13 to 2:06 because of the threat of rain later in the afternoon.

[SATURDAY 11:47 am ET]

NAME GAME – Comedian Jeff Foxworthy visited Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time Saturday to attend the race that bears his name – Saturday's Jeff Foxworthy's Grit Chips 300. Foxworthy is famous for his "You might be a redneck if..." lines. "I think for a redneck your No. 1 thing you would want is to go to heaven," Foxworthy said. "No. 2 is to have your name on a race at Bristol."

GLOBAL RALLYCROSS HITTING BRISTOL – BMS announced Saturday that the Global Rallycross series will race at the track July 20. Drivers will compete on a course that will include part of the half-mile oval track, plus the jumps and corner changes that are standard for the series. Monster trucks also will be part of the July 20 event. "Seeing these incredible cars on Bristol's high banks, as well as a few jumps and new corners we will create will make a spectacular show that everyone will want to see," said track vice president Jerry Caldwell.

[SATURDAY 11:25 am ET]

ALLGAIER ALL IN – Justin Allgaier won the pole Saturday morning for Saturday afternoon's Grit Chips 300 Nationwide race at Bristol. Allgaier ran 124.759 miles per hour. Also in the top five were Austin Dillon (the last car in the time trial session), Sam Hornish Jr., Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler. The second five – Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, Brian Scott, Mike Bliss and Trevor Bayne. The race is scheduled for 2 p.m. Hornish is the point leader.

[SATURDAY 10:25 am ET]

FEELIN' GROOVY – How the grooves work during Sunday's Food City 500 remains to be seen. Some drivers expect the high groove near the wall to become prime territory after hundreds of laps of practice and Saturday's Nationwide race. That groove proved critical during last fall's race, the first event after track officials made dramatic changes to the track surface near the wall. “When you look at the rubber already three-quarters of the way up the track, I think we are definitely going to see that type of groove coming in eventually, " Jeff Gordon said. "Once you get on a long run, most guys are running 10, maybe 15 laps; you have got to go 60 to 80 laps on a set of tires on a run or more. That’s when you are going to have to start really searching around the race track. We saw in the Nationwide race last time we were here, that groove moved up slightly in the Nationwide race. If it moves up in the Nationwide race, there’s no doubt it will in the Cup race.”

[SATURDAY 10:05 am ET]

BUSCH STILL FASTKyle Busch, who set a track record in Friday qualifying, remained in the fast groove in Saturday morning practice at Bristol. Busch had the hour-long session's top speed – 125.831 mph. Close behind were Busch's Joe Gibbs Racing teammates – Matt Kenseth in second and Denny Hamlin in third. Rounding out the top five were Jeff Burton and Kasey Kahne. In the second five – Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, Jamie McMurray, Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson. Final Cup practice is scheduled at noon.
