A long winter of executive movement within the Hulman & Co. properties will see two more changes next week with the appointment of new chief executive officers at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IZOD IndyCar Series.

SPEED.com has learned that IMS CEO/interim IndyCar CEO Jeff Belskus will promote IMS communications VP Doug Boles into the COO position effective immediately, and Robby Greene, who heads IMS Productions, will be given the 'interim COO' tag at the IndyCar Series.

Boles declined to comment when reached Saturday.

Boles, whose background as a lawyer and former co-owner of the Panther Racing IndyCar team has made him a fixture in the series since the days of the IRL, has worked incredibly close with Belskus, making his graduation to COO a more natural fit for his scope of duties and influence.

Boles has been in charge of the management candidate search and business strategy project being conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, and along with a search for his replacement in the PR department, findings and recommendations from BCG regarding the IndyCar Series' future could come within the next few weeks.

More appointments and possible changes to IndyCar's executive team are expected to take place once BCG completes its survey.

Greene will maintain the IndyCar COO role for a limited period as that role is expected to have a new, permanent solution put in place, but for now, the TV executive's reputation as a fiscal hawk will be utilized at IndyCar.

Greene's stature within Hulman & Co. was raised when he turned IMS Productions, which had been losing significant sums of money, into a profit-making entity in just over a year on the job.

The length of his tenure as IndyCar COO will remain an unknown, but Greene will be expected to work his budgetary magic on behalf of the open-wheel series until he returns to focus on his primary job at IMSP.
