MOTO: Rider To Watch In 2013 - Justin Barcia
Justin Barcia is taking his relentless style into the premier class in 2013 and the established order best be prepared for the attack that's about to hit.

GEICO Honda's Justin Barcia
'Bam Bam' is going big bike racing full time in 2013 and it's difficult to image anything but fireworks as a result.

Justin Barcia is an ideal wild card to throw into an already deep and compelling 450 SX mix, blessed with a unique blend of talent and brash aggression that's almost guaranteed to upset the apple cart.

While Barcia demonstrated some new-found maturity in his riding last season, enabling him to march to a dominant Eastern Regional 250 SX Class championship (and East/West Shootout victory), he retained that trademark merciless riding style for which he earned his nickname. The hard-charging Barcia is completely comfortable banging bars in order to impose his will and bully his opponents into submission… as evidenced by the long line of fallen rivals he's left in his wake en route to the checkered flag.

Will Barcia back down and ride more timidly just because the competitors he'll more frequently be fighting for position with are named Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, and Chad Reed? It seems unlikely.

Exactly how the established stars react to Barcia's no-holds barred approach should prove fascinating.

And we will find out soon enough -- Barica has already proven to have serious big bike skills. In just a handful of appearances, the works Honda runner has proven to be an instant threat on a 450 with premier class AMA Motocross moto wins to his credit, a 1-2 result pit up Reed at the 'Superbowl of Supercross' in Genoa, Italy in 2011, and most recently, a victorious romp at the Monster Energy Cup in his Team Honda Muscle Milk debut.

Best of all… the action is only a few weeks away with the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross season opener set for January 5th in Anaheim, CA.

Also Deserving Of Consideration

Marc Marquez has been branded MotoGP's next big thing for some time now and the youngster will have the chance to prove himself worthy of that tag in 2013. Similar to Barcia in mentality and makeup, Marquez's vast potential motivated Honda to push through a rule change so they could plug him directly into the factory Repsol Honda squad as a premier-class rookie next season. As a result, the Spaniard will be armed with one of the four (likely one of the two) best machines on the grid and will be expected to push for podiums and even wins in his maiden season.
