NGM Mobile Forward Racing
The British GP weekend did not turn out as expected for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team due to a series of problems encountered during the free practices in the last two days.
Colin Edwards has nonetheless pushed himself by constantly improved his qualifying lap times during the race, showing a step forward that has not proven to be enough to fight with the top CRTs.
The team is now thinking about the next GP in Assen that will take place in less than two weeks, where the team and Colin will be working on new modifications that could bring them back to the level at which they were at the beginning of the season.
Colin Edwards – 16th
“I went faster during the race than I did in qualifying. I felt that I was just on edge; everything is so rigid and stiff that you can’t relax on this bike. Once the grip went down just a little bit then it just stops turning, it’s like driving a truck and it just doesn’t turn anymore. You’ve got to trust the electronics and kind of steer it with the rear. Electronics felt okay today, obviously they could be better but the electronics aren’t going to fix the issues that we are having. They might make them better but we’ve got to get the bike to turn, that is nº1 priority. Get the bike to turn and just go straight because when I get it on my knee it just seems to go straight, until the speedy comes down and then the bike will turn but by that time you are losing bike lengths to the guys in front of you. For Assen we will be trying something that hopefully will make the difference. I thank my team, it was a though weekend but my guys did everything they could given the difficulties we had.”
Sergio Verbena – Crew Chief
“We are not happy with the race. After yesterday’s practice we thought we had made significant improvements but today we kept the same gap of 4 seconds from the head of the race and 1 second from the first CRT. This is not our target, we what and need to improve. We are trying to bring something new to Assen in order for Colin to be able to express his potential.”
