MOTOGP: Crutchlow - ‘Ducati Lied To Me’
After believing he was in line for a factory ride with Ducati, Cal Crutchlow is now on the outside looking in. And he's not happy about it.

Cal Crutchlow has given up on his dream of riding a factory Ducati in MotoGP next year and is disillusioned by the way he has been treated.

With the defection of Valentino Rossi to Yamaha next year Crutchlow is on the outside looking in, with Nicky Hayden already resigned and a deal virtually done for Italian Andrea Dovizioso.

Crutchlow has heard nothing from Ducati since Monterey where he had the impression that he was still in line for a gig, having been offered a two-year deal during months of discussions.

For the hard-riding Briton, considered by many a rider who would suit Ducati, it has been an unpleasant experience.

"They lied to me for four months," said Crutchlow of his talks with Ducati bosses. "At the end of the day they also lied to a lot of people saying they had offered me a two-year deal. That was correct but I still never saw any paperwork but that’s fine.

"That’s over and done with and I can’t do anything to change their decision, but I’m glad to see they made a big improvement this weekend already.”

In yesterday's free practice for Sunday's Indianapolis Grand Prix Ducati riders Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi were 9th and 10th, 1.6s off Dani Pedrosa's Honda pace.

On a satellite spec Tech3 Yamaha M1 Crutchlow was 0.4s ahead of the Ducati pair despite a heavy crash.

Crutchlow's options for next are now to stay at Tech3 Yamaha or perhaps have some chance of a Honda gig with the Gresini team now that Dovizioso is headed to Ducati.

A return to the World Superbike has also been considered but Crutchlow's preference is MotoGP although he knows that Yamaha's policy prevents him from having full factory bike at Tech3.

"There are a lot of options there and there are two ways of looking at it," he said. "I could go back to World Superbike and earn a decent living and challenge for a world title or ride around here on a privateer bike in fourth to sixth. And you have to beat them factory bikes to even do that."
