PROGRAMMING NOTE: Round 6 of the MotoGP World Championship from Silverstone, England will air on SPEED on Sunday, June 17th at 2:30pm ET. Qualifying will air LIVE all season long on SPEED2. #SPEEDmoto

History may be repeated for Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow, as he once again suffered a crash at Silverstone that could rule him out of the race.

In cold track conditions the British rider lost the front end of his Yamaha at high speed in turn 13, and fell heavily as a consequence.

A sharp pain in his left ankle was initially diagnosed as a sprain, yet with Crutchlow sighting significant discomfort and an increase in swelling, he will undergo further examination in Northampton General Hospital later today. As a result he will miss this afternoon’s Qualifying Practice.

The results of this will determine the rider’s participation in the race tomorrow. Last year Crutchlow broke his left collarbone in qualifying at the same Grand Prix, and will be hoping to start his first MotoGP race in front of his home crowd tomorrow.
