British rider Cal Crutchlow is just days away from the crucial career decision that could make him a Ducati rider in 2013.

Crutchlow, 26, has been offered a two-year deal in the factory Ducati team and it would come as major shock if he rejected this golden opportunity.

It is understood that Ducati would like a formal answer from Crutchlow during the course of this weekend's Italian GP at Mugello.

With Ducati now owned by German car giant Audi it appears Crutchlow's emergence as a top five rider in 1000cc MotoGP has been perfectly timed.

It is certain Audi will shakeup Ducati Corse in a move to reinvigorate the engineering resources and direction of the ailing Desmosedici MotoGP race program.

And the British flavor at Ducati could expand even more next year with emerging Moto2 rider Scott Redding under consideration to ride in a satellite team.

Redding's talent has been spotted by Ducati team manager Vito Guareschi and talks have been held with MarcVDS team manager Michael Bartholemy about the Moto2 team upgrading to Ducati in MotoGP.

Hard-riding Crutchlow, currently with the satellite Tech3 Yamaha team, now believes he deserves a place in a factory team. Full-factory status, a massive pay increase, and very likely the opportunity to race beside Italian legend Valentino Rossi are what are on offer at Ducati.

Audi-Ducati bosses are seeking to retain the services of Rossi despite his failure to win for almost two years.

Crutchlow, 26, has been a Yamaha rider for four years and won the 2009 World Supersport championship on an R6. But with Yamaha stalling on offering him factory status in 2013 it is the Ducati factory deal that is swaying the ambitious Crutchlow to accept the Ducati offer.

"I have been loyal to Yamaha for four years and they have been loyal to me but I am happy to do a deal with Ducati if Yamaha can’t give me what I want," Crutchlow said. "Yamaha has given me my bread and butter for the last few years and I don’t want to leave but if there is no option on the table what can I do?"

"There is an option to stay at Tech 3 but I am never going to get the support that the factory riders are getting and that has been quite clearly stated.

"If I go to Ducati then I know I am going to get the best Ducati out there.”
