MotoGP

• Casey Stoner starts from pole for the third time this year. Stoner has finished on the podium for the last five years at Assen, including a win in 2008 on a Ducati.
• Dani Pedrosa, who starts from second place on the grid, has had three podium finishes at Assen in the MotoGP class, but his only win at the Dutch TT was in the 125cc class in 2002.
• In third place on the grid is Jorge Lorenzo, who has won the last three successive MotoGP races. If he wins here at the Dutch TT it would be the first time in his GP career that he has scored four victories in a row.
• Stefan Bradl heads the second row of the grid, which is the best qualifying result in the premier-class by a German rider since Ralf Waldmann was fourth on the grid at the Czech GP at Brno in 1998 on a Modenas.
• In fifth place on the grid is Cal Crutchlow, maintaining his record of being in the top five in every qualifying session he has taken part in this year.
• Ben Spies has qualified in sixth place on the grid – the sixth time this year that he has been on the second row, the exception being a front-row start at Silverstone.
• Heading the third row of the grid is Andrea Dovizioso, who finished third at Assen last year, which was his first podium at Assen in the MotoGP class.
• Alvaro Bautista, who has qualified in eighth place on the grid, has finished in the top six four times in the first six races of the year.
• Nicky Hayden is the ninth fastest qualifier and the highest placed Ducati rider on the grid. Last year Hayden finished fifth at Assen - his best dry weather result of 2011
• Valentino Rossi heads the fourth row of the grid, which is one place higher than he qualified last year at Assen, when he went on to finish fourth.
• In 12th place on the grid is Randy de Puniet; the fourth time this year that he has been the highest placed CRT rider in qualifying.

Moto2

• Marc Marquez starts from pole for the fifth time this year. Marquez has won for the last two years at Assen; the 125cc race in 2010 and the Moto2 race last year.
• Pol Espargaro has qualified on the front row for the fourth successive race. Following his win at
Silverstone he will be aiming to take back-to-back wins for the first time since moving up to the Moto2 class.
• In third place on the grid is Andrea Iannone, who led every lap of the race on his way to winning the Moto2 race at Assen in 2010.
• Randy Krummenacher heads the second row of the grid – his best qualifying result since he moved up to the Moto2 class at the start of last year.
• Dominique Aegerter starts from fifth place on the grid, which is his best qualifying result since the Portuguese Grand Prix last year.
• Taking the final place on the second row is Simone Corsi, who has not finished on the podium since he was third at the Aragon GP last year.
• Seventh-fastest qualifier, Scott Redding will be aiming to take back-to-back podium finishes for the first time in his GP career.

Moto3

• Sandro Cortese starts from pole for the third time this year. He has finished on the podium five times in the first six races of the year. Cortese qualified on pole for the first time in GP racing at
Assen in 2009, but crashed on lap five when pushing hard to make up for a bad start.
• Danny Kent has qualified on the front row for the first time in his Grand Prix career.
• Niccolo Antonelli starts from the front row for the first time in his debut season in Grand Prix season.
• Heading the second row of the grid is Hector Faubel, which is his best qualifying result so far this year.
• Niklas Ajo is in fifth place on the grid, which equals his best ever qualifying result in Grand Prix racing which he achieved at the opening race of the year in Qatar.
• Maverick Viñales takes the final slot on the second row – his lowest grid position since he was ninth-fastest qualifier at the Spanish GP at Jerez. Last year at Assen Viñales qualified on pole, won the race and set the fastest lap.
• In tenth place on the grid is Luis Salom, who finished second at Assen last year – his first podium finish in Grand Prix racing.
