Nicky Hayden has refused to blame the latest soft construction Bridgestone front tire for a violent qualifying crash ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
And the Kentucky hard man says that the heavy spill, which came without warning while he was chasing a fast lap and spot on the front row, will not affect him in the 20-lap race.
Hayden's crash was a mirror image of the spill, at the same place (Vale chicane), that had earlier claimed his Ducati teammate, Valentino Rossi.
Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner both feel the new front tire moves around too much under heavy braking and may have influenced the Ducati crashes.
And while Hayden's fall from his Ducati GP12 came as he braked for the final chicane to complete his flying lap he was unwilling to make excuses.
“No, I can't really say that (blame the tire)," said Hayden of his straight line crash under braking.
"The Honda is certainly different and I know they like the harder construction tire and I can see why the Hondas don't like the new softer tire.
"If anything the softer tire should be better for that (straight braking)."
Hayden had set the fastest provisional times for the first two sectors of his late-session lap when his Ducati lost the front and flipped violently out control, dumping him heavily onto the tarmac and then the gravel trap.
