Dani Pedrosa is in desperate need of help to have a realistic shot at catching Jorge Lorenzo, but he's seriously lacking 'friends' willing or capable of lending a hand.

Dani Pedrosa has made an impressive bid in his charge to become World Champion, but he’ll need some Spanish Castle Magic if he is to beat out Jorge Lorenzo to the crown. Lorenzo has a 23-point lead with two races left.
Pedrosa needs friends. Four or five of them… to figure out how to beat Jorge at The Island and Valencia but finish behind Dani.
So yes, it is looking pretty grim for Pedrosa, even though he’s admirably upped his game to win five of the last six races. The one he didn’t win, the San Marino disaster, probably sunk him.
Pedrosa has done well to knock the gap back inside the magic mark of 25, which is the margin of difference if he were to win and Lorenzo got nada due to crash or mechanical DNF. That’s basically what needs to happen, since Lorenzo has finished first or second every time out with the exception of the Assen race in which he was taken out in the race's opening corner.
The Spaniard has also been able to stay healthy this year -- something that has bogged down his title runs since joining MotoGP for the 2006 season.
He really can’t even count on his teammate for help. Casey Stoner has won the last five races at Phillip Island. If they name a corner after you, you’re probably pretty good there, and since he’s retiring at the end of the year, he desperately wants to close out his career with a couple of wins if his injured ankle is willing.
Stoner claims his ankle is probably worse now than when he came back two races ago. “But because this circuit goes left, I should have fewer issues and be able to do it a little more comfortably," he told the Herald Sun.
Stoner would have probably won the title himself if he hadn’t injured himself at Indy. Over the past few seasons Honda has shown themselves very capable of markedly improving their bike in-season and Stoner’s value as one of the all-time greats likely would have put them over the top.
So Pedrosa not only needs to whip Lorenzo, he needs to top Stoner, too. He’s closer, but he knows this isn’t a straight-up fight. “There is no difference now from the last races, so I’ll just try to go out, do some good practices, try to enjoy it and keep focused as usual and ride well,” he said in the pre-race press conference.
It all adds up to being very tough but it would make for an epic title grab if he can make it happen.
