MOTOGP: Indy Offers Stoner Tough Love
It may have taken three massive QP crashes to make it so, but no one is dismissing Casey Stoner's Indy concerns now.

Did the Indy circuit strike down Casey Stoner in an act of revenge or lend its support in the best way possible?

Either way, Indy supplied it in spades on Saturday afternoon.

Reigning World Champion Stoner has long been a harsh and vocal critic of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, calling it both uninteresting and dangerous with its multiple tarmacs and varying degrees of grip… and lack thereof.

However, the dour Stoner is often viewed as overly negative to the point of crying wolf on occasion (it's not hard to recall races where he downplayed his potential only to win with room to spare…).

Ben Spies suffered a big crash in Saturday's Indy QP
Last season's Indy complaints were largely dismissed as 'Casey being Casey,' particularly after he claimed pole and scored a dominating race win.

Afterward, the Australian was insistent that his Indy success didn't change his views any, but his point didn't really land until Stoner himself did; he was thrown from his RC213V while placed P1 early in QP. Flipping through the air, the defending race winner suffered multiple lower leg fractures and ligament tears when he slammed to the pavement. His status for today's race remains very much in doubt.

If that wasn't enough, the exclamation points to Stoner's argument were supplied by the painful and damaging highsides of another potential race winner in Ben Spies and fellow two-time Indy podium finisher Nicky Hayden.

Texan Spies will ride today with a bruised… well, body (shoulder, back, pelvis, and 'other places') while Hayden won't ride at all, ruled out after suffering a concussion and broken hand, much to the disappointment of his legions of fans in attendance.
