Shuhei Nakamoto, the new Vice President of the Honda Racing Corporation, believes that Honda must accept full responsibility if Dani Pedrosa does not win the world championship this year. When Honda builds a better and faster bike then Pedrosa will win, according to Nakamoto.

“If Dani does not win the world championship it is Honda’s responsibility, not Dani’s,” Nakamoto said. “This is the Honda way. If we win the championship then the rider is good, if we don’t win the championship then bike is not good --- this is the Honda way.”

The new policy from Honda, unknown to previous HRC riders who were often blamed for not winning, has started with the return of Nakamoto to HRC management.

Pedrosa, 23, is now in his fourth season as factory Repsol Honda, the team that dominated 500cc and MotoGP with Mick Doohan and Valentino Rossi.

In 54 starts Pedrosa has won six times -- twice on 990s and over the past two years four times in the 800cc era.
