Dani Pedrosa registered a methodical ride to victory at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP to conclude a quietly excellent weekend for the Repsol Honda pilot.

Out of the spotlight of the big crashes and silly season talk that dominated the Indy weekend, Pedrosa merely qualified on pole and then marched to his second career Indy triumph with a 10.823-second margin of victory.

Don't look now but the soft spoken Spaniard has silently worked his way into title contention, 18 points removed from title leader Jorge Lorenzo with seven rounds still remaining.

Pedrosa's path to victory was cleared somewhat when arguably his two biggest threats this weekend -- teammate Casey Stoner and American Ben Spies -- did themselves no favors with terrifying qualifying crashes.

Despite being sore pretty much all over his body, the Yamaha-mounted Texan somehow managed to slam past Pedrosa and into the lead in the race's second corner. Showing excellent pace, Spies led the opening few laps with Pedrosa in tow, as the two quickly separated from the pack.

It took a couple of tries to displace the motivated Spies but Pedrosa took control of the race to open lap 4. Spies' challenge would go up in smoke just two laps later when his M1 expired while running second.

Lorenzo was the primary beneficiary of his teammate's misfortune, accepting second which he held to the checkered flag to minimize the damage of Pedrosa's runaway win.
