Dani Pedrosa will debut the latest evolution version of the Honda RC213V at next week's U.S. Grand Prix in Laguna Seca, the 10th round of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship.

But his teammate, double world champion Casey Stoner, has decided against racing the new bike and will instead just use the upgraded V4 motor in the standard RC213V chassis.

The major mid-season upgrades were confirmed following today's Mugello test session in Italy.

An urgent build and logistical effort by HRC engineers will now be required in advance of the Laguna race.

Pedrosa will have the pick of four RC213Vs for Friday opening practice -- two standard bikes and two of the completely new bikes. The Spaniard will use opening practice for a series of back-to-back tests before nominating a race bike.

Pedrosa expressed his preference for the all-new RC213V -- chassis and engine package -- after just a three lap impression at Mugello.

However, Stoner does not like the feel of the new chassis but has requested the new motor spec for his standard bikes.

The plans were confirmed exclusively to SPEED by HRC vice-president Shuhei Nakamoto at Mugello earlier today.

"For Dani we will send four machines -- two standard and two new -- and we will compare these in Friday practice and he will choose which bike he wants to qualify and race," Nakamoto said.

"The new engine will be available for Casey but he will use the standard chassis. It is no problem with our engine allocation to seal new motors for both riders in Laguna.

"This is our plan for Laguna Seca."

Pedrosa's test day at Mugello ended after just three laps when he crashed the new bike, accidentally clicking back to first gear, almost high-siding, and then dumping the bike in the gravel trap.
