Valentino Rossi has called on Ducati to urgently arrest the under-performance MotoGP program in a bid to end an embarrassing losing streak.
It is message that will also surely reach Ducati's new owners, the Audi car company in Germany.
It is the lack of clear technical plan to solve longstanding handling issues with the Desmosedici V4-powered Ducati GP12 that is testing Rossi's patience.
Rossi's complaint about chronic "undertsteer," which he highlighted three months ago at the Jerez preseason test has still not been addressed.
And his latest message is clearly directed at Filippo Preziosi, the Ducati Corse technical director, who is responsible for the MotoGP program.
Rossi unloaded on Ducati after qualifying 10th and 1.3s off the pole time set by Honda rider, and former Ducati star, Casey Stoner for Saturday's Dutch TT at Assen.
Rossi, a former Yamaha and Honda rider, knows firsthand how powerhouse Japanese factories respond to technical problems, and the most recent example is the delivery of a new Honda chassis at Assen to address the current chatter issues with the RC213V.
"Looking at the other factories and how much they work, I think in Ducati that to try and bring this bike to a better level we need a clear and a better plan to fix the problem," Rossi said.
"At this moment we are expecting just a different engine with a smoother bottom-end which I think is a good idea.
"But for the problem of the understeer and to improve tire wear I don't know what I have to expect. We need some good ideas because to try and fix the problem it is not enough just to try with settings.
"We need something more but unfortunately I don't know what."
