Valentino Rossi wants a more rider-friendly race bike from Ducati, a situation that reminds Jeremy Burgess of his earlier days with Mick Doohan at Honda.

An impatient Valentino Rossi wants a quick fix but faces another two weeks of frustration as he waits to see if there is light at the end of a dark Ducati tunnel.
Calming the often-savage power delivery of the Desmosedici V4 is now seen as a central issue in extracting the full potential of Ducati's brave GP 12 experiment.
Rossi and his crew chief, Jerry Burgess, are convinced that the confidence-sapping understeer of the GP12 is not all chassis related and are urging Ducati to address the issue.
But Rossi must content this Sunday's Spanish GP at Jerez and the following week's race in Portugal with the bike that saw him finish a demoralizing tenth in the opening race in Qatar.
That result tipped Rossi over the edge and he delivered a savage post-race spray on Italian TV that implied Ducati needs to react faster and focus on solutions to his problems.
The major upgrades from Ducati will be tested in Estoril at the official test day following the Portuguese GP.
Since he first rode the Ducati in November 2010 Rossi has been complaining of understeer and aggressive power delivery. The answers have been slow.
Ducatis dominated the top speed readouts at Qatar and top-end power has always been a holy grail for the Bologna squad.
"We need to have better drivability from the engine -- softer, smoother -- because we have a lion in the cowling," Rossi said.
Taming the engine is now a focus with Burgess saying that there is still set-up adjustment to be explored in the aluminum chassis although it is expected that chassis revisions will be part of the Estoril test program as well.
