Despite the weather forecast’s predictions of rain, there was an unexpectedly dry start for the first testing day of this 2013 World Championship, held on the 5,548m Sepang circuit.

Unlike at the tests carried out at the end of last season, the Pramac Racing Team was once again complete, and along with riders Andrea Iannone (TI Energy Pramac Racing Team) and Ben Spies (Ignite Pramac Racing Team) the squad began getting acquainted with the Desmosedici GP13, completing 44 laps with Andrea and 19 with Ben.

This circuit, which is where Ben was obliged to prematurely end his season last year after the fall that still affects his performance, isn’t one of his favorites, whereas Andrea continued to search for the right feeling with the bike.

Andrea Iannone

“We suffered the first day on the track, like the rest of the first day of testing. I'm struggling to understand where and how to improve the bike, but I am confident that the next two days of work will allow me to figure out the right direction."

Ben Spies

“After four months of inactivity I didn’t want to force too much in order to be more concentrated and performing in the coming days. The shoulder reacted very well, however I need to regain strength."
