After recently saying he was finished with MotoGP, Ben Spies has had a change of heart and is being linked to a move to Fausto Gresini's satellite Honda effort for 2013.

American Ben Spies is planning a move back to MotoGP just weeks after announcing his abrupt departure from the factory Yamaha team and more recently strongly hinting a return to World Superbike.

The American has had second thoughts and decided he has unfinished business. Talks at Brno this weekend are strongly linking Spies with the Gresini Honda team.

This is one of Honda's satellite squads, running factory bikes, and at Brno today both Fausto Gresini and Spies confirmed to SPEED that talks are underway.

"It started at Indy and we have spoken again here in Brno; Ben is an interesting option for my team." Gresini said.

Spies admitted talks but of there being only "a slim" possibility of staying in MotoGP.

Spies shocked Yamaha, and the MotoGP fraternity, with his earlier text message resignation from the factory team at the end of 2012 and his desire to leave the MotoGP paddock.

The Texan claims other GP options but -- with Briton Cal Crutchlow confirmed at Monster Tech3 Yamaha and the Ducati factory bikes spoken for -- there is no better deal than a Honda RC213V.

Especially if Spies wants, as he says, to have no regrets.

When asked by SPEED what had changed to swiftly make plans to stay in MotoGP Spies said, "It comes down to the fact that I feel I haven't shown 100% of what I can do, and I know that.

"I don't want to look back in ten years and say maybe I left too soon but to stay it has to be the right package and that is what I am working right now."
