PROGRAMMING NOTE: Round 8 of the MotoGP World Championship from Sachsenring, Germany will air LIVE on SPEED on Sunday, July 8th at 8:00am ET. Qualifying will air LIVE all season long on SPEED2. #SPEEDmoto
Casey Stoner will stick with what he knows as he continues his campaign to defend the MotoGP championship in his final season of racing.
At least until Honda come up with a definitive solution to the vibration issues that are seemingly ever-present in their 1000cc RC213V.
Stoner has put aside the modified chassis which Honda delivered in advance of last week's Dutch TT at Assen, preferring his standard-spec RC213V.
This is despite on-going chatter problems, now rising to new levels at the front because of the late, and surprising, introduction of a new-spec Bridgestone tire.
The Assen chassis upgrade has remained in the back of the Honda race truck at the Sachsenring this weekend with Stoner set to start off pole following a rain-soaked qualifying session.
Sunday's German Grand Prix is the 11th of 18 rounds with Stoner and his Yamaha rival, Jorge Lorenzo, both on 140 points with Lorenzo holding the tiebreaker, four wins to three.
The Assen evolution was only a small change according to HRC vice-president Shuhei Nakamoto and, given Stoner's sensitive feel, it came as no surprise it was not the solution.
