Sprint Cup Series driver Kasey Kahne, who has participated in slightly less than half of this year's Nationwide Series events, paced Friday's opening Nationwide practice in preparation for Saturday's Great Clips 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Kahne, driving the No. 38 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet, showed the way with a lap of 132.851 mph over the Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Austin Dillon (132.636) and the JR Motorsports Chevy of Cole Whitt (131.984).
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who is tied for the points lead with Elliott Sadler with just two races remaining, was fourth, followed by the Dodge of Brad Keselowski.
