Blake Young rebounded from his Friday defeat to topple Superbike rival Josh Hayes in their Daytona rematch.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The AMA Pro Road Racing season opener will air back-to-back-to-back in a three-race block (Superbike Race 1, Daytona 200, Superbike Race 2) today starting at 2:30pm ET on SPEED.

After taking a rather sound beating in Friday's AMA Pro Superbike season opener, Yoshimura Suzuki's Blake Young struck back on Saturday, stealing a victory away from rival Josh Hayes by 0.002 seconds at the checkered flag.

Hayes rocketed into the lead off the line and threatened to repeat yesterday's disappearing act aboard his Monster Energy Graves Yamaha R1. However, Young elbowed his way past Hayes' teammate, Josh Herrin, and reeled Hayes back in as the two separated from the rest of the field.

Despite running in relatively close proximity throughout the 15-lap affair, Hayes seemed very much in control throughout. He showed a superior line through the chicane and routinely launched onto the straight with a renewed gap. The Mississippian seemed capable of possibly winning by taking to the banking in first, and a test run from second saw him sail past Young with ease before they hit the stripe just a few laps short of the checkered flag.

Hayes ultimately decided to launch his final lap assault from second and appeared to be in prime position to draft his way to a Daytona double. However, Young eked open just enough of a gap to fend off Hayes' inevitable slingshot by just inches as they hit the stripe.

Looking completely out of sorts and even a little shocked following the Yamaha man's Friday domination, Young upped his game on Saturday, laying the groundwork for another thrilling showdown between the series' leading two riders in 2012.

National Guard Jordan Suzuki's Roger Hayden picked up a second third-place result of the weekend, winning out in a race-long and sometimes spirited battle with Herrin for the position.

Foremost Insurance Pegram Racing's Larry Pegram nipped Attack Performance Kawasaki's Steve Rapp at the flag again to claim fifth by just 0.008.

Young's teammate, Chris Clark, took a relatively lonely seventh, while ESP BMW's Jake Holden finished in eighth, EBR's Danny Eslick and Team Venezuela's Robertino Pietri completing the top ten.

AMA Pro SuperSport

SuzukiScoopFans Sportbike TrackGear.com M4 Suzuki's Elena Myers scored her second career AMA Pro victory in Saturday's AMA Pro SuperSport contest at Daytona International Speedway. And today's win may have been even sweeter than her Infineon Raceway triumph as it came with the checkered flag flying and following a four-rider battle to the stripe. She also became the first female to win a professional race in the Speedway's history.

Myers took control of the lead on the backstraight and appeared to be ripe for the picking for the chasing National Guard Suzuki's Corey Alexander and RoadRace Factory/Red Bull Yamaha's Hayden Gillim, but the two clashed as they struggled to slip into her draft and fell short of their ambitions to slingshot past in the sprint to the checkered flag.

Celtic Racing/Orient Express Suzuki's James Rispoli was unable to back up his Friday win. The reigning class champ was a factor throughout but slowed on the race's final lap and finished fourth.
