AMA SBK: Mladin Wins Chaotic Laguna Seca Final

What started off hectically (three times actually) ended rather predictably.

Following a wild and confusing opening, Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin rose to the top to claim his tenth AMA Pro American Superbike victory in twelve tries this season on Sunday afternoon at Laguna Seca.

On the race's initial start, Mladin's teammate, Tommy Hayden, got a embarrassingly big jumpstart as the rest of the field sat motionless at the red light. The light never did go green, and the pack was sent around for another lap to re-grid while Hayden was
set to receive his penalty following the restart.

The second start was even more chaotic, as a front-running pileup took Ben Bostrom, Larry Pegram, Geoff May, Neil Hodgson, Aaron Gobert and others out of contention in Turn 2.

Leader Blake Young brought the field around to open the second lap and was surprised to rush up on the Safety Car, which was on the far right of the course just over the blind Turn 1. The group looked unsure whether to attempt to slow up behind it, carry on, or stop altogether, which brought out another red flag.
