The ongoing saga of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross season might have reached its greatest turning point last Saturday in Toronto. As Ryan Dungey finally broke through for his first win in what has been an extremely challenging title defense, Chad Reed continued to solidify his moniker as “Mr. Consistency.” Meanwhile Ryan Villopoto can no longer seem to do anything right and has now suffered through a 29-point swing that saw him go from 26 points up, to three points down in just two weeks.

We still have five weeks remaining and the top five riders in the championship are closer than ever, each with a legitimate shot to claim the title. The tension is going to begin to boil over as the pressure mounts each week en route to the Vegas finale.

Let’s see what the events of Toronto have done to the box score this week:

Wins:

Ryan Villopoto – 5
James Stewart – 3
Trey Canard – 2
Ryan Dungey – 1
Chad Reed – 1

Welcome defending champion Ryan Dungey to this exclusive club. That gives at least one win to the top five riders in the championship and also signifies some incredible parity in a season packed with arguably the most talented group of riders in the history of the sport. No one expected Dungey’s drought to last a long as it did, but now that he’s broken through and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Poles:

James Stewart – 8
Ryan Dungey – 2
Trey Canard – 1
Ryan Villopoto – 1

Fastest Toronto Practice Lap:

James Stewart – 51.818

Many wondered if there would be any lingering effects from Stewart’s crash in Jacksonville, particularly in light of the way he was removed from the track. However, he silenced everyone and showed he's as quick as ever, posting a lap over a second faster than anyone else in the field. This was a big statement, but unfortunately for Stewart, it didn’t carry over into the night show.
