SX LITES: Wilson Takes Round 2
Kawasaki star Dean Wilson scored a one-sided victory in Saturday night's Lites fight.

Dean Wilson registered a confident and measured ride on Saturday night at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ to claim a convincing victory in the second round of the Supercross Lites West title fight.

Wilson's Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate, Tyla Rattray, actually powered into the lead at the start, but saw his charge stunted just slightly by a racey Marvin Musquin on the Red Bull/KTM. While the two international aces were battling, a third on in Wilson took advantage and swooped through into the lead just a few corners into the contest.

At that point Wilson checked out while Musquin established himself a clear runner-up and Rattray solidly in third, shifting attention further down the pack.

Down the order GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac and the victor of the season opener, Cole Seely, both were forced to recover from less than ideal starts. The two systemically worked their way forward and came together in a spirited fight for fourth position just after half distance.

Tomac slammed through with an effective block pass with three laps remaining to ultimately claim the position while Seely held on to round out the top five.

Race winner Wilson was happy to make up for a disappointing opener a week ago, explaining, "I feel like I got jinxed (last weekend); maybe I went in too confident, but that was me tonight; that's how I should have raced in Anaheim...I'm glad up here."
