10. Phoenix SX

It didn't take long for the signing of Ryan Dungey to pay big dividends for KTM as he powered to the firm's first 450cc victory early in the season at Phoenix.

9. Seattle SX

What was expected to be a happy homecoming for double champ Ryan Villopoto was considerably less than that, as he crashed and tore his ACL at his home race. Meanwhile, Andrew Short ended years of coming up just short to claim his first-career 450cc victory.

8. Hangtown MX

James Stewart returned to outdoor action (and with a new team) at Hangtown and did so in impressive fashion, scoring a dominating 1-1 sweep.

7. Thunder Valley MX

Thunder Valley proved to be the turning point of the motocross season as Stewart went down and Dungey assumed control of the championship.

6. San Diego SX

Meanwhile, San Diego was the turning point of the Supercross season. Villopoto held off Reed to take the win in what proved to be the final race with a full field of healthy contenders in what turned out to be an injury-hit season.

5. Monster Energy Cup

Motocross’ All-Star race lived up to the hype with its innovative rules, unique track design, and a captivating night of action that served as a fine preview for the impending 2013 season. Justin Barcia also gave his new premier-class rivals something to think about over the short offseason.

4. Rounds 1-4 of SX Season

There were four winners in four races as the “Big Four” grabbed a win apiece to start the year off in epic fashion.

3. Freestone MX

This was the single best race in all of 2012 in terms of outright competition as Stewart and Dungey slugged it out for two whole motos. It ultimately didn't hold championship-winning weight, otherwise it would have been ranked even higher.

2. Houston SX

Villopoto became the first repeat champion since Ricky Carmichael and clinched the title earlier than anyone before, locking up the #1 plate with four rounds remaining.

1. Unadilla MX

Dungey made history for KTM at Unadilla, handing the manufacturer its first 450cc title to cap off one of the most statistically dominant seasons of all time, winning 10 of 12 overalls and 18 of 24 motos with no finish lower than third.
