Even reigning champ Ryan Dungey, who still hasn't won a race this year, made the most of the others' misfortune. He rode to a third-place finish, picking up enough points to close to within 18 markers of first. Dungey is third in the standings with six races remaining and in position to strike.

As race fans, isn't this what we really want? Don't we want to see our heroes actually earn their glory? In Monster Energy Supercross you have to find a way to ride through the adversity that you are faced with if you want to be champ.

That's why legendary rocker and Poison frontman Bret Michaels came up with the "Rock Hard...Ride Hard " award this year. Bret's a true motorcycle enthusiast and he is a life long Monster Energy Supercross fan. He appreciates the toughness that Monster Energy Supercross racers have to show throughout the course of the season as they chase their dreams.

This award will go to the rider who battles through that adversity and best exemplifies that never-say-die attitude. The way this season is going, the racer who wins Bret's "Rock Hard...Ride Hard" award will truly deserve it.

Personally, I like the idea that the difference between winning and losing in Monster Energy Supercross comes down to just how badly you want to win. Desire, heart, and a will to never give up while risking it all to stand on the top step of the podium… that's why Monster Energy Supercross is the fastest growing form of motorsports out there these days.

The packed stadiums and high TV ratings are proof that race fans still like the idea of 'may the best man win.' If you want to win the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, you better bring your 'A' game each and every time you line up in the gate.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Monster Energy Supercross round from Toronto, Canada will air on SPEED on Sunday, March 27th starting at 5:00pm ET.
