PROGRAMMING NOTE: Round 6 of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Championship from San Diego, CA will air LIVE on SPEED on Saturday, February 9nd at 10:30pm ET.
Just as Ryan Villopoto looked to be on his way to taking the championship by storm, he experienced some more hard luck in Anaheim and saw his momentum slam to a halt. Meanwhile, Ryan Dungey emerged as the season’s newest winner after his own wild night and Davi Millsaps just kept doing what he's been doing.
1. Davi Millsaps (Last Week: 2 / +1)
The picture of consistency this season kept it going in Anaheim, finishing on the podium for the fourth time in five races. He’s withstanding the pressure of the red plate very well and looks comfortable in the championship lead.
2. Trey Canard (Last Week: 3 / +1)
Canard hasn’t been too far off the pace set by Millsaps, but he did experience his worst outing of the season in Anaheim. While he may be third in the championship, Canard is still a player in the title hunt and he wants to win, badly.
3. Ryan Dungey (Last Week: 4 / +1)
Anaheim had to be one of the most satisfying wins of Dungey’s career. He faced about every bit of adversity possible but still rose to the occasion when it mattered the most. He’s got to be feeling good coming into this weekend and now stands second in the championship.
4. Ryan Villopoto (Last Week: 1 / -3)
Anaheim could have been a lot worse for Villopoto considering he was involved in two incidents. He showed the resiliency that has helped him win the past two championships and you can bet that he’ll be determined to make a statement this weekend. Now sitting fourth in the championship, he’ll need it.
5. Chad Reed (Last Week: 5 / No Change)
Once again, Reed was a central figure in an opening lap melee, but he was impressive in his climb through the field. No one has more experience than Reed, and he’s heading into his favorite venue. Could San Diego finally be Reed’s time to shine?
