One week after reclaiming the top spot in the Power Rankings, Ryan Villopoto solidified his position with a dominant effort in Daytona.

6. Trey Canard (Last Week: 7 / +1)

Trey has needed a nice solid run for some time now and in Daytona he got just that. While a late fall hurt his finishing result, 6th, Canard rode the way he started off the season. We’ll see if that was the spark he needed to get back up front and mix it up with his rivals.

7. James Stewart (Last Week: 6 / -1)

Daytona could have been good to Stewart, but after a fall in the Main Event it looked like he was over it. It has to be tough to ride as well as Stewart has at so many moments this season, only to have it not pay off in the end. Nevertheless, Stewart is a racer and he just wants to win and since he doesn’t have championship points to worry about, you can bet he’s going to be out there for the sole purpose of capturing that checkered flag.

8. Andrew Short (Last Week: 8 / No Change)

It wasn’t a great night for Short in Daytona, but he kept his head down and got to the finish. It’s been an up and down start to the new relationship with BTO Sports KTM, but I think that's to be expected.

9. Broc Tickle (Last Week: 10 / +1)

Tickle finally had his chance to shine a bit in Daytona. No doubt the advice he got from team owner Ricky Carmichael paid off, resulting in what I think is his best race of the season. While his result may not show it, Tickle made progress in Daytona and got to learn from racing with the leaders of the division. This could be the spark he needs to be a consistent top-10 threat.

10. Eli Tomac (New Entry)

Tomac’s venture into the 450SX Class hasn’t been amazing, but he’s definitely gaining some valuable experience. Daytona was Tomac’s best performance yet and ironically it came on the toughest track of the season. He was charging hard on Barcia for a spot on the podium at the end, but a late fall ended those hopes. Eli’s starting to gain confidence and it will be interesting to see how he finishes off this experiment on the big bike.
