PROGRAMMING NOTE: Round 12 of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship from Toronto, Canada will air LIVE on SPEED on Saturday, March 16th at 7:30pm ET.

It took nine weeks, but defending back-to-back Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto finally fought his way to the top of the standings at Daytona two weeks back, officially erasing his nightmarish 16th-place finish at the season opener. Now with the red plate in his possession, Villopoto is taking no prisoners in his quest for a third straight title.

1. Ryan Villopoto (Last Week: 1 / No Change)

Villopoto solidified his position as the championship leader with a sixth victory in Indy. That gives the champ four more wins than anyone else in the series and that's the primary reason he’s atop the standings. In Indy he got a big challenge from Ryan Dungey, but with a nine-point cushion heading into Toronto, it’s likely going to take more than one night to stop Villopoto’s momentum.

2. Ryan Dungey (Last Week: 2 / No Change)

'Mr. Consistency' has picked up the pace the last couple weeks and he looks like he’s starting to approach his true potential with a pair of runner-up efforts and strong charges late in the race. It has been a bit of an up-and-down season for Dungey and KTM by their lofty standards, but you can see that it’s all coming together now. Dungey’s going to need all he’s got if he hopes to erase a 17-point deficit in six rounds.

3. Davi Millsaps (Last Week: 3 / No Change)

Millsaps needed to stop the bleeding with a solid ride. He lost a 24-point lead and possession of the red number plate in a span of just three races. To make matters worse, he suffered some injuries that hindered his performance. However, in Indy Millsaps was back at the level we’ve become accustomed to and, if not for a fall on the final lap, very well could have been back on the podium. We’ll see if things are truly back on track for the early points leader this weekend.

4. Justin Barcia (Last Week: 5 / +1)

Another solid week for Barcia in Indy with a fifth-place finish. He’s showing signs of getting back to the level that saw him win in just his second race as a full-time 450 rider, but hasn’t quite put it all together in the main event. Regardless, Barcia remains a wild card every weekend with the potential shake things up.

5. Chad Reed (Last Week: 4 / -1)

Reed is still looking for the consistency that has been the trademark of his successful career. In Daytona, Reed was one of the fastest riders on the track, but in Indy he went relatively unnoticed. TwoTwo is another year older now and since he wasn’t able to give himself the perfect birthday present, he will likely be even more eager to end this winless streak.
