Riders like Dean Wilson and Blake Baggett are looking for strong runs to close out the season following some difficult runs at the tail end of their respective championships. If they are able to get a solid finish in the main event, it will surely carry over into the shootout.
And as there aren’t any titles to be decided this evening, the Lites Shootout will take center stage. As the lone opportunity to watch the top competitors from each region due battle, the shootout is as unpredictable as a race can get. It’s like Anaheim 1 all over again.
History suggests that anything can and will happen in the shootout. Some riders pull out surprising runs, while other times things turn out as you’d expect, like when the legendary Pro Circuit Kawasaki team swept the top four positions a couple years ago. This season has been the year of GEICO Honda, so there’s an opportunity for them to pull off a similar accomplishment
I’m inclined to think that the shootout will produce a wild 15 laps and it is something you will not want to miss.
The 2012 Supercross season has been notable to say the least. The championship has lost virtually all of its biggest names, but in their absence other riders have stepped up to lead the series and continue to produce exciting on-track action. Riders like Millsaps, Justin Brayton, and Jake Weimer have really done a lot to carry the premier class and you've got to hope that at the end of the night it will come down to one of those three for the win. It would be a fitting conclusion to a roller coaster season.
Be sure to tune in tonight at 10:00 p.m. EST for the final live showcase of Monster Energy Supercross on SPEED.
