SX LITES: Wilson Ends Tomac’s Streak
Dean Wilson bounced back to not only snap Eli Tomac's win streak in San Diego, but also take command of the Supercross Lites West Region title lead.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Dean Wilson took full advantage of a strong start and the misfortune of title rival Eli Tomac to walk away with the Supercross Lites West victory Saturday night at San Diego.

Wilson came into the round in serious need of a bounce back weekend following the three-race win streak of Tomac that saw the GEICO Honda man quickly accumulate a commanding 22-point lead.

Wilson got that and then some, jetting away off the line in second and quickly charging into the lead, rectifying the weakness in his game in recent outings. And as he had predicted, once away cleanly he ran off at the front to claim an easy victory.

Tomac, meanwhile, was brought back to earth (literally and figuratively) by a rather nightmarish evening. It started off on the wrong foot as he crashed at the start of his heat race, and had to work hard just to eek into the qualifying positions at the very end. Stuck with a bad gate pick as a result, he got away at the start of the Main decently in sixth, but made a mistake on the second lap, barely avoiding a crash on his part, but slowing right in the path of Red Bull/KTM's Marvin Musquin, who smashed into him from behind, falling hard and being forced to fight his way to 16th from a lap down.

Tomac managed to stay upright and continue on only to suffer a huge crash of his own a short time later, going over the front of his bar in the whoops section and hammering his right shoulder and elbow in the dirt.
