With the elite so closely matched in this year's Monster Energy Supercross title fight, the ever-important launch out of the gate has proven that much more vital in 2012. There's simply no room for error.
Every victory this year has been set up by a well-positioned rush into the first corner, and weak starts have been repeatedly punished by additional drama -- whether its due to the inherent risks of working up through traffic or pushing too hard in an effort to not allow one's rivals to slip away.
