PROGRAMMING NOTE: The AMA Pro Road Racing action from NJMP will air tonight on SPEED at 10:00pm EST.

We're here at New Jersey Motorsports Park preparing for the second day of racing, and taking a look a the American Superbike class, there's championship picture is really coming into focus.

Tommy Hayden is 16 points down on Josh Hayes, and what does that mean with just three races remaining? Well, Tommy has a preferred way of racing and conserving his tires, but looking at the points, he probably won't be able to stay with that game plan because Tommy basically has to run the table from here on out. And what does running the table mean? Well, besides simply winning every race, he also needs to collect three of the four available bonus points for laps lead and pole position to assure himself of the title, no matter what Josh Hayes does.

The wild card in all of this is the 155 of Ben Bostrom. In conversations with Ben, Ben says he races for Pat Clark Motorsports -- he doesn't race for Yamaha, he doesn't race for Josh Hayes -- and he's out to get the results he needs to get for his team so he can continue racing. Josh Hayes understands this and Tommy Hayden understands this.

The other wild card today could be John Hopkins. Hopkins had an incident with his motorcycle when he crashed in Saturday's qualifying session and he raced his backup bike without having done any laps on it. They're getting that bike dialed in and he was P3 in this morning's warm-up so Hopkins could be a factor as well.

Talking with John Ulrich, the team manager for the M4 Monster Energy Suzuki team, he explained that there are no team orders with Suzuki and there never will be team orders, and he's out to get his sponsors the best exposure that he can. Hopkins is under orders to run his own race.
