Will Kyle Petty be in the top 35 by Martinsville?

Other than die hard Petty fans...who CARES?

The only useful function he performs on the track on race day is when the leaders pass him, you know that they have caught the field and are putting cars a lap down.

He is there to let the leaders know they have caught the back of the pack.

If he wasnt a team owner, he would have been on the sidelines YEARS ago.

Kyle is diminishing the Petty legacy and that is a shame.

If some people do poorly in front of him that might be his only chance.

the "Petty legacy" has been diminished since well before 1984, Richard's last win... the team is currently on the rise from their depths of about 2 years ago...the "legacy Team", the 43, is the whole focus, and they have made significant improvement... not the 45, whose focus is just staying in place to race until Kyle is tired of it...kyle showed at Watkins Glen that he still has the passion to race, and it is his right to continue until he is ready to quit, or no longer can qualify... racing is in his blood, and hard to let go of...rf

Let us not forget that Kyle probably wanted to be a musician, but I think he more or less got pushed into racing. Don't get me wrong he's a good guy and a good driver, but I think unfortunatley his winning days are over, but you never know.

Kyle just needs to step out of the car and let a driver that can compete for something take over.

Look no further than the job Labonte has done in the 43 car to see Kyle needs to step aside.

No way he is in the top 35 at any time this year. You look at the guys in front of him in points and pick more than 1 you think are going to fall out?

Regan Smith is 38th in points and the 01 car is in trouble. I don't think he climbs in either. I would look for Hornish to fall out only because of his inexperience in these cars I think he will get in numerous wrecks just like last week.

Kvapil will get in the top 35. He has a decent car this week. Unless Mears has another wreck/car problem he will be in the top 35 after today.
I could see possibly Mayfield fall out.

Kyle actually lost a position in the standings. He went into Las Vegas in 39th - he leaves in 40th. It's not looking good.

I wish I could say yes! Kyle is a great guy but his driving days are numbered and he will say when they end.

Kyle Petty and the 45 are toast. Good riddance, I'm sick of trying to be positive and support teams like Petty Enterprises and the Wood Brothers if they aren't willing to step up and face the reality of their situations and stop pretending like it's still 1970.

Remember Bud Moore's team? Holman-Moody? Junior Johnson? They were all championship winning teams who went by the wayside years ago. MMM is already gone, the Wood Brothers are right behind them and if Bobby Labonte leaves Petty Enterprises then they'll be following them all very soon.

Look at the bright side, he fell out a few years ago. And when he was out, he was real fast on fridays smile

I wonder if the 43 and 45 will swap points.....

This could be the tickler. Last year they talked seriously about switching points. If this happens this early in the year, I can see Bobby doing it, but I would bet he'll be on the market a lot sooner than expected. JMHO

If they swap points Bobby is good as gone. He was PO'ed when the topic came up last year.
