Most important mod is reliability! If you got a high maint vehicle that can't do a 3-4000 mile trip without stopping to fix it every leg it isn't worth squat!

I dont think any mods are required u need a reliable car and the ability to read a map. After all its been said on the show its not how fast the car is its driving and navigation skills. I got a 2000 blazer and as a truck driver know how to read a map, thats all I would need.

I would say put a fuel cell in the bed of my truck the more fuel you have the further you can go w/o stopping for gas.

The most important is to have the engine breathe freely as much as possible. The easier it breathes the less gas it'll use.
