First season was better

Every one wants to say that you don't have to risk your car in the challenge. Its true that you don't, And if you don't you GO HOME. That why first season was better.

If you didn't want to run in the challenge then all you got was the slowest time. That meant that during the second half you could make up your time and still be in the show.

Speed needs to make more noise about speeding. Its a road rally, Excellent navigation, gas refills and car reliability , are what wins. SCCA runs Road rally's and people love it. since speed is running every thing against every thing, It makes it hard for some cars that are gas hungry. SCCA has classes to level the playing field. But that is the point of the challenge. Hell you could have been the slowest most gas hungry car, Win the challenge and end up with the 3rd best time! And there were time bonus witch really mixed things up.

Every one is going to speed but 70 mph in a 65 isn't that bad, now 100! Speed should show us every team that speeds like that or speeds PERIOD getting a massive penalty. Make it known speed limit only.

Some people say they wouldn't do that to there car. What you didn't watch the first season? you know your going to have to push your can and risk some paint scratches. Don't go on the show. If i could afford a Ferrari or lambo i wouldn't be on the show.

That said If i have a Ferrari or lambo and i am on the show... I am going as hard and as fast as i can on the challenge's and through the fence if need be. Its just a car if you can't have fun in it why own it?

The only change that should have been made to the show was the "my way" crap. A team should be allowed to get to a check point what ever way they wanted.

"Excellent navigation, gas refills and car reliability , are what wins."
If that were the case the field would be full of Pruis' and Jetta TDIs.
The speeding rule is only in place to cover legal asses imho. After all it IS a race.

In a road rally race with car's broken down into classes the Pruis and Jetta TDI's would be the cars with the best chances to win long distance races. Road rally's are about time. But this is speed's Bullrun braking cars into classes didn't happen. Thats why they have the challenges.

Thats why i said the first season was better. Challenges resulted in the slowest time, not elimination. That alowed you to try and make up time in the second leg, and the time bonus were a nice wild card.

Yes it is a race. Speeding is not allowed Team VW even said that the chase car reports your speed so you get penalties. I would pic a Pruis or Jetta to run in Bullrun too, if i could stand them as cars. I trust my navigator to get me there in the least amount of distance posable. Few fuel stops and with luck not getting lost puts you in first. And keeps out out of the challenges.

And at the end when you are in a challenge and lose, in the FIRST season, you can still win by Good navigation and few stops. Thats why i feel first season's lay out was better.

I disagree Pauly....

With the challenge at the end... YOU have to put your skills to the test. If you can't navigate to get to the final checkpoint.. then why should you stay on the show?? To me I do miss the Time bonuses... and they would still apply... and may save you if they were still there.

But sluffing off in the challenge... is a weak tactic. if your not willing to put your car through Bullrun.. then don't apply smile

I do agree with the speeding stuff. Evo's 120 mph ricer flyby's were crap.

Don"t get me wrong Scott i agree that "sluffing off the challenge" is a weak tactic. And If i ever got on Bullrun you would never see me back out of a challenge. the point is to stay out of them, but once your in put it all on the line or go home. And your right with the challenge at the end, its all or nothing.

HOWEVER! The lay out of a challenge in the middle of the run from A to B lent itself to more tactic's. Sand bagging, repairs, or hell just getting lost in the first half didn't mean you were out of the show. Putting the challenge at the end of the show and making it all or nothing seems to take away from some of that.

What ever the lay out Scott I want on the show. Problem is 3 honda crxs that dont run (thanks dad for crashing them) 1 subaru with a blown engine (yeah all me), 1 not streetable samurai, 1 ford escort wagon, and 1 200k plus Nissan truck, And a wife that wont let me play with them... well all i can do is watch.

I miss the Time Bonuses too. They made for good entertainment. Especially when they go out of the way to get them and they aren't worth the time or worse... are all gone.

well after watching the first season My brother & I thought we would just go for all of the time Bonuses. It worked for the TA. It was a suprise that they pulled it. They changed it so that all cars (sooner or later) would be in a challenge. And you couldnt sand bag.

I also liked how in season one they didn't sleep in hotels, but instead had cots and tents right near their cars and everyone else. Made for interesting post-leg action, like when f150 and lotus got into after the whole taping them speeding thing.

Really My only problem is everything is give or take. You put the challenge at the end of the show, the driving portion means less. you can arrive 2 hours late... and do well in the challenge, and prevail, Avalanche Did it time and time again.

You put the challenge in the middle, then the challenge loses emphasis...

So what do you do? I would like to see the Time bonuses brought back in. I would like to see fair challenges.. I thought that dirt track deal was wrong to put Solstice last.. who actually came in, as the first of the bottom 2. They should have had 3 cars, so everyone had an even playing field..

But going for the time bonuses... could potentially keep you out of the challenges... But really look at LexusLadies, they made it what 7 episodes with out even being looked at... Guess we'll see how season 3 pans out.
