Hello Field Marshall--

Speed TV's HD channel was just added to Time Warner Cable here in Cincinnati this week. I was looking forward to watching the the final race of the F1 season in HD, only to find that we too lacked the audio from the F1 world feed, as well as Speed's bumper and animation music. As much as we love Bob, David and Steve, we'd really like to hear the sound of the race as well.

This weekend, the problem occurred throughout the Friday practice broadcast and during today's race. Somehow, yesterday's broadcast of qualifying did not have the problem.

Speed's SD channel did have a proper sound mix throughout the weekend.

My question for you is, if this is not Speed's problem, what specifically is Time Warner Cable doing wrong? How can they isolate the announcer feed from the rest of the mix? Are they feeding us sound from a wrong transponder? Are you feeding 5.1 AC-3 audio to the cable companies, and are some of them only broadcasting the center channel?

Please, don't just tell us the cable companies are screwing this up, or there is something wrong with our our playback system. We need to know specifically how this can be happening, exactly what the cable companies are doing wrong, and why this is only occurring on Speed HD during F1 races, and NOT on ESPN, Discovery, HBO, NBC, CBS, ABC, Showtime, MSNBC, PBS, or ANY other HD channel on Time Warner.

I've been watching HD on Time Warner for the last 3 years both in stereo and in 5.1, and I guarantee you that there is nothing wrong with the configuration of my playback system. This issue is happening only on your network.

Again, if the problem lies with Time Warner, what are they doing wrong? Are they downlinking the wrong satellite transponder? Give us some help, so we can communicate with our cable companies to resolve this. Or better yet, get your engineering management to communicate with the cable companies that suffer from this problem. Having pissed-off viewers doesn't help Speed-TV, regardless of who is causing the problem. Please become part of the solution.
